Workplace Motivation Initiatives

For this assignment, I chose to work based on the last team I belonged to in the Provincial Stores Division of Interbank in Peru. Next, I will give you a brief description of the team and our goals to achieve.

The Interbank Larapa team is an office in the city of Cusco where I work as a manager, directing a group of young professionals with different personal and professional needs. Our primary goal is to provide exceptional service and financial guidance to our clients. In addition, we have monthly commercial goals for the sale of products such as credit cards, mortgage loans, vehicle loans, and savings accounts depending on the needs and use of each client, etc. Likewise, accompanying clients and educating them in the use of alternative channels such as the bank's APP or electronic ATMs so that they can optimize their time.

The team consists of four key positions, each with specific responsibilities:

The Assistant Manager supports office operations, ensuring a flow of money and valuable papers, and coordinating with other departments. Platform Senior handles client requests, provides long-term banking product advice, and helps clients make informed investment decisions. In addition, we have six Customer Service Representatives who interact directly with customers and users, answering questions, solving problems, and carrying out monetary operations such as receiving payments with credit cards, personal loans, or payment of services in general, in addition to offering services to short term. term products and other banking services proactively.

As a manager, my role is crucial to ensure the success of the team and achieve organizational goals. I provide clear leadership, direction, and direction to the team, monitor performance, allocate resources effectively, and foster collaboration and communication.

Thanks to this work from the Management and Leadership course, I will now develop an action plan to improve motivation, through which I hope to inspire and motivate the team to perform at their best and guarantee exceptional service to our clients and successfully achieve our objectives.

These actions are based on the theories of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Alderfer's ERG, David McClelland’s acquired needs, Goal Setting, and Equity Theory.

Recognize and celebrate achievements:
I will implement a recognition program that highlights individual and team successes. Celebrate every achievement, completed business campaign, and continued exceptional performance through rewards, public recognition, team events, or self-development courses. I think it's important to recognize their contributions as it builds self-esteem and motivates them to continue to excel.

Clearly convey compensation and benefits: I will collect information about the needs and motivations of each team member and I will develop an effective information channel to communicate to them the economic, health, and family benefits they have for being bank employees. Knowing this important information will ensure the interest of their leaders in taking care of their personal well-being. This will reduce stress and allow them to focus on their responsibilities.

Encourage personal development: I will create opportunities for personal growth and development for team members. I will seek to provide access to training programs, workshops, or conferences relevant to their roles and professional aspirations. I will accompany and support them in the development of new skills, the expansion of their knowledge, and the achievement of their professional objectives. Finally, I will help you align your personal purpose with the purpose of the bank so that your efforts have a deeper  meaning.

Delegate responsibility: I will provide autonomy to make decisions, express their ideas and contribute to initiatives to develop the monthly and annual strategic plan. I will delegate operational and management responsibilities that allow them to develop self-confidence and commitment to the objectives of the organization. I believe that by providing opportunities to lead and make decisions, some team members will be motivated to exert their influence and positively impact the results of the team.

SMART Goal Setting: Encouraging employees to work and set specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound goals will ensure that goals are clearly defined, leaving no room for ambiguity. For example, instead of setting a general goal like "increase credit card sales," a SMART goal would be "achieve a 10% increase in monthly sales by the end of the quarter." This specific and challenging objective provides a clear goal and a specific time frame, which will improve motivation and focus in the team.

Foster a collaborative work environment:
I will promote a culture of collaboration
and support within the team that encourages open communication, the exchange of ideas, and teamwork. I believe this is possible through team-building activities, organizational events, and camaraderie gatherings, which will allow team members to feel connected to their colleagues and experience a supportive work environment. This will increase the sense of belonging, motivation and satisfaction of team members.

Provide feedback: Providing constructive feedback will allow my collaborators to know in time their strengths and points to improve. Feedback will allow me to have constant communication with my team, avoiding the accumulation of disagreements and taking corrective actions on time. I believe that as a manager it is also important to receive feedback from employees since it allows me to know the perception of my employees and improve some management and leadership strategies.

In conclusion, with the objective of maintaining a motivated and constantly growing team, I have prepared a plan with initiatives that include recognizing and celebrating achievements, clearly transmitting the compensations and benefits of the company, promoting personal development, delegating responsibilities, setting objectives SMART, foster a collaborative work environment, provide feedback. All based on theories that largely focus on the needs detected in each team member and the team as one.

I will be attentive to your comments since this space also helps us to learn and improve.

See you in the next post.
